Session 3........ My Reflection

On SDL and Collaborative learning..

Self Directed Learning is something everyone should adopt in their culture. Especially in time with the ever advancing technology, learning has become so much easier.i 'google' for a lot of things, even when i am reading an article- if i don't understand a certain word or term or if there's anything else i am not sure of, i would open another tab and 'google' it.

It is so interesting, because i didn't think there was a term for that. After the lesson, i now know the Acronym for it.

The part where we start to talk about the differences between Co-operative VS Collaborative learning did get me confuse... even after being explain the differences,i was still kinda unsure. But it came to my mind about the previous collaborative exhibitions i had visited in the past. Usually in the art exhibitions, when artists collaborated, did not lose their individual styles/characteristics they had established for themselves.

i came to understand that in collaborative work, each individuals would still work with their own idea over the same theme, through their already acquired skills, methods and what they are good at. The outcome of their ideas would usually be able to stand on their own and when put together, create a whole new dimension to a certain issue/theme they try to address together.

________________________________________________________________

What I already KNOW(K):

Cooperative....working together on one idea/goal.

Collaborative....working together while using own ideas and sharing them to contribute to a common goal shared by a group of pple

What I WANT TO LEARN(W):

i would like to learn to create lesson plans that will excite and engage students to pursue SDL on their own

What I LEARNED this week(L):

The clear distinction of co-operative learning and collaborative learning. Something like an enlightenment.

What QUESTIONS I still have(Q):

As much as we want our students to adapt to SDL as part of their learning culture, what will happen to our roles as educators? Will the educators have lesser role to play in educating?Will we be more of a facilitator/advisors rather than implementer?

  1. Looks like you have found your own answers to most of your questions!

    But I should point out that being a facilitator is a lot harder than it looks. It is a lot easier to just teach.
