Session 3 Reflection

Hi ppl... ;)

K: What I already Know
That more and more schools are emphasizing on the importance of SDL and encouraging educators to include SDL in their lessons
W: What I want to learn
How can I implement it in such a way that my students will be intrinsically motivated to carry out their own SDL instead of my breathing down their necks to complete an aspect of SDL if I were to include it in my lessons
L: What I learnt this week
The difference between cooperative learning and collaborative learning.  I often thought both were the same and the only difference between them was just the way they were spelled. Well, thanks to Dr. Ashley I now know the difference between these 2 learning methods.
Q: What questions I still have
SDL is a good thing if a student learns how to use it effectively, but are we not putting those           students at risk who are unable to do SDL due to their character and unwillingness to learn. Do they just get ignored if this aspect was included in a lesson.
Also how do we convince parents, students and even our seniors that we are still carrying out our duty as teachers even when we delegate SDL to the students? Wont they think that we are just plain lazy to do our job? Wont they assume we are looking for an easier way out?

  1. Consider this: If you "delegate" work to your students, is it still SDL in the truest sense?

Then think about this: Why do you assume that the teacher be excluded from the SDL equation?
