Objectives vs Goals + Lesson Plans (01102010)

3 "things that I have learnt" from the process
The differences between goals and objectives. Honestly, I have never really considered the differences between objectives and goals even when I wrote my lesson plans. But this week’s lesson taught me the differences between them. Basically, a summary of the differences:

Objectives
Goals
Outline
Narrow and specific
Broad and general
Measure
Measurable
May or may not be measurable
Time Period
Shorter
Longer
Principle
Facts
Ideas

Next, I also learnt about Bloom’s Taxonomy and that it is possible to employ them when planning for our lesson.
Last but not least, I learnt about the ABCD (Audience, Behaviour, Condition & Degree) factors that help us to structure our objectives and to make it clear and specific.

2 "things that I can apply"

Addressing the "ABCD"s (Audience, Behaviour, Condition & Degree) when writing the objectives.
To not fall into the 'cool-tool trap'. It is really tempting to decide on a software or a cool tool first, before outlining the lesson plan. But the lesson plan will be misdirected and hence, we should allow IT to complement but not take control over our lesson.

1 "thing that I want to know more about"

How we can come up with lesson plans that can trigger students’ higher order thinking skills BUT without neglecting their lower order thinking skills.
